Adventuring in Europe has been one my favorite destinations since retiring. There are so many wonderful places to see and explore! During December 2016, we decided to take another Viking River Cruise. Viking has been one of our favorite cruise lines and we'd never really been out of the country during December let alone during the holidays. Romantic Danube Christmas Markets was our choice. To make our trip even more special, we traveled with a few friends and family. In fact there were twelve of us on this journey!
While planning this trip, we decided to go in a few days early so we could explore Nuremberg a bit more. We had been here briefly a couple of years ago with Viking's River Cruise: Cities of Lights! We researched hotels on Trip Advisor and found Hotel Victoria Nurnberg. It was a lovely hotel and the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. It was also conveniently located with Christmas Markets galore within walking distance.
One thing we like to do is to hire a private guide when we visit a new city. It helps us to get the lay of the land and provides us with a historical perspective, which my husband really enjoys. We found Kevin of Nuremberg Tours in English on Trip Advisor and booked the Old Town & Nuremberg Trials tour. We were not disappointed. Kevin tailored our tour with places we were interested in seeing plus a few of his own. Of course there was a little stopping for shopping, too!
